The chardonnay vines thrive in climatic conditions similar to those of Burgundy, from where the grape originates: an oceanic climate with continental influences, frequent rainfall and a wide temperature range. Domaine de l'Aigle produces Languedoc-Roussillon wines of surprising freshness and exceptional minerality. Benefiting from a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with a mild winter variant, the vineyard enjoys exceptional climatic conditions: in terms of sunshine duration, the quantities of heat stored during the day by the limestone and released at night to the grapes, as well as the moderating effect of the Mediterranean Sea on temperature variations and the altitude that tempers the summer heat. Two soil types contribute to the aromatic complexity, finesse and elegance of this cuvée: the marly-limestone soils of the Gargasian, at the foot of the cliff, rich in fossils, provide the vines with a water supply throughout the summer despite the absence of summer rainfall; and the red Mediterranean soils of the Barremian, formed on compact blue-grey limestone reclaimed from the garrigue, allow the production of rich and concentrated wines.
